Wowie zowie! I think we broke the fun meter yesterday.
We were so pleased to be invited to put on Musical Bingo with Jess Indeedy at Lovebox Festival this year in the Floripa Arena, and our gig was off the hook! We put on our Reggae Riddim and Hip Hop rounds for the Sunday Lovebox revellers, who filled the dance floor without much coaxing!
After our gig we watched the INCREDIBLE Hackney Colliery Band – I know I bang on about these guys a lot but have you heard their new Prodigy Medley??? After that we watched the amazing Nile Rodgers and Chic on the main stage, amongst a sea of happy people dancing. I went backstage afterwards after the show and met the lovely man himself, check out this photo of us:
I got so many compliments on my “Chaka Fucking Khan” t-shirt yesterday, so I am going to sell them! I made this t-shirt myself years ago so I think it’s time to share it with the world. To buy one of these t-shirts please visit our Musical Bingo with Jess Indeedy web shop at www.musical-bingo.com/page3.htm and scroll to the bottom of the page.
I was fortunate enough to be able to watch my idol Chaka Khan from backstage and it was such an amazing show! Her vocals were amazing, her range is like WHAT?! and she played all of her most popular songs (and lots from the Rufus album – yes). Whenever I’ve seen her live she’s given such powerful performances that I describe her shows as ‘worshipping in the church of Chaka Khan’. Highlight of the year so far!
After Chaka we stuck around to see Grace Jones who I love, she is a legend, so beautiful and such incomparable stage presence, but I was disappointed that it was the exact same show I saw a few years ago at Latitude Festival. Maybe it’s because the first time I saw the show I was amazed by it and recorded it into my memory, but I felt like I already knew what to expect this time around. It was still an incredible performance though and I saw Grace’s adorable mom backstage beforehand – imagine if Grace Jones was your daughter? Wow.
I’ll be posting some photos from our Lovebox gig soon our Facebook Page, have you Liked us yet?
So after an incredible weekend I have a couple of things to look forward to this week to help me combat the festival come-down. On Wednesday I am singing a solo with my choir for a mini concert we’re putting on, and straight after I sing I’ll be DJing a private corporate party which is Club Tropicana themed! On Thursday I’ll be putting on musical bingo in its highest form at Drink, Shop & Do in Kings Cross which is always a really fun night. Have a good week everybody!
